COVID-19 Relief work

No one saw this coming but everyone across the world has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in the worst possible way. Entire families have been wiped out from urban and rural parts of India and millions of innocent lives have been lost globally. This carnage continues even as of the date of preparation of this annual report. The pandemic has not just taken lives but also has impacted livelihoods for millions. Individuals, NGOs, and Governments across India and the world have been doing their best to provide food, shelter, medical supplies, and other essentials to those in need since the beginning of the pandemic.

Jhep started its Covid-19 relief work on April 1, 2020. This work continues to date and is expected to continue in the fiscal year 2021-22 and beyond (unfortunately!) Individual donations were sought and using these funds Jhep provided dry ration, masks, and sanitizers to migrant workers, daily wage earners, sex workers, transgender community, orphan homes, and others in need. Jhep partnered with Yuvak Kranti Dal and CPI volunteers and Corporators from all political parties to effectively distribute the help to the needy and avoid any intermediaries.

Since April 1, 2020 – Jhep provided groceries for over 250,000 meals. A young high school student volunteer of Jhep also led a successful campaign to raise funds to provide smartphones for kids in need so that they can continue learning remotely.
