Jhep prioritized domestic violence and gender awareness trainings as a major step forward toward women’s empowerment in the subject rural areas. Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated domestic violence and gender-based discrimination to a level not seen in the last 50 years not only in these regions but globally.
In early 2021 – Jhep conducted a Domestic Violence Awareness and Resources workshop in Pathardi Taluka of Ahmednagar District. Women and men participated. School teachers, medical professionals, protection officers and counselors attended this workshop. Attendees shared experiences and participated in a lively discussion. Attendees requested additional such sessions in the surrounding areas. Such training and workshops will continue for a foreseeable future.
