Villages in Velhe Taluka (Pune District)

Jhep has partnered with ACWADAM as a knowledge partner that brings significant expertise and experience related to groundwater and spring water rejuvenation projects through comprehensive village action plans/models. Jhep and ACWADAM conducted field visits in three villages of Velhe Taluka wherein a model project of spring rejuvenation in collaboration with the Central Government’s Jal Jeevan Mission will be explored. Close to 15 villages from Velhe Taluka, which are located along the ridgeline of the area, approached Jhep to work with them on addressing their drinking and irrigation water problems. Jhep initiated the background work of gathering the necessary data from these village gram panchayats; however, the pandemic and prolonged lockdowns in Pune District have currently slowed down these efforts.

Jhep also met with experts at Gram Gaurav Pratishthan – Pani Panchayat (GGP) in Saswad. Jhep organized a day-long workshop for the representatives from the aforementioned villages from Velhe Taluka with the experts at GGP in Saswad, Pune. The group also conducted field visits to two villages where GGP has been working for the past 3 to 5 years, met with the local farmers, and learned about effective water resource management techniques and crop patterns.
